Miniature Shaker Cupboard and Case of Drawers #03 circa 1825-50
Perhaps the finest example existent of Shaker built-in art, this tall, stately
cupboard is truly a masterpiece of design. Originally built into the wall of a
dwelling in the Enfield, CT community, it is now in a private collection. The
construction details are numerous but significant is the asymmetrical setting of the small drawers, reason unknown. The case finish is a warm patina of natural pine over a once yellow stain, the doors and drawer fronts are Butternut. This replica is perfect right down to the working twist locks.
