Shaker Small Wash Bench with Drawers #32 circa 1850 2 3/8 x 3 1/8 x 1 1/2
One of three different Shaker wash stands in the line. These pieces appeared fairly frequently in all the Shaker communities and are just exquisite examples of the Shaker blend of design and function. A wonderfully eclectic addition to any room decor. All drawers are box jointed and exquisitely detailed. It is finished in our warm pine patina with subtle indications of the 150 years it's been used. The original bench was built by well known Shaker craftsman James V. Calver in 1860. A number of these units still exist in private collection which indicates that they may have been produced in some substantial volume and either sold outside or distributed within the village system
